Miss Kitty came up to my mother's house, 6 months old, abandoned, and pregnant. You can see by the notches in her ears that she's a survivor.
After she weaned her 8 sweet little babies, I captured the kittens. They had been living outside with their mama and didn't want anything to do with humans. My skin was flayed by little kitty claws, but I got 'em all into a couple of crates and put them on my mama's sunrooom. I took Miss Kitty to the vet and made sure she'd never have to be a baby-maker again, got her all her innoculations, and introduced her to the pleasure of living inside with MY mama. Then, I have to say, I took all her kittens home with me, got them all innoculated and, as soon as medically possible, got THEM fixed so they wouldn't be the cause of more kittens.
I kept those 8 kittens around getting them socialized since they were mad as march hares (whatever that means) after living in the woods all their lives. I wanted those babies to make people love them and adopt them instead of trying to tear their skin off. I was able to get all of them adopted but one. He refused to be put up for adoption and made it clear he was going to stay with us, charming us and our resident cat, Arlo. He became Elvis, within a year was 19 pounds. Miss Kitty was 7 pounds. We figured she'd had a close encounter with a bob cat because Elvis is only about 2 pounds overweight. The rest is just a BIG cat, the size of a cocker spaniel.
Anyhow, I regress. Eventually, when Miss Kitty's human, my mama, went on to her reward 3 years ago, Miss Kitty came to live with me. She and Elvis hate each other, but she can hold her own with her 19 pound son.
