Our Lady of the Rocks, Kotor, Montenegro
Our Lady of the Rocks is an islet in the Bay of Kotor, Montenegro. In reality, it was created by sinking old and seized ships loaded with rocks. The legend, however, is a little more romantic and fantastical. Seamen returning after every voyage would lay a rock in the location of the little islet until there was an island. This legend is kept alive with the ongoing custom of throwing rocks into the water. On this rock is Our Church of Our Lady of the Rocks.
Montenegro is in Southeastern Europe. It’s on the Adriatic Sea bordered by Kosovo and Albania, Croatia, Bosnia, and Serbia.
