Portal of Last Judgement, Notre Dame, Paris
Here we have one of the doors of Notre Dame Cathedral's Statues of Kings. This one is ominously named the Portal of Last Judgment. And it's indeed stately, beautifully carved, and awesome in the truest sense of that overused word.
The "Last Judgment" name is very important. In Catholicism, The Last Judgment will occur after the resurrection of the dead and the reuniting of a person's soul with own physical body. Christ and all the angels will come and each person who has ever lived will be judged. Those believing in Christ will go to forever bliss, and those who reject Christ will go to everlasting condemnation.
