The amaryllis is typically a large, vibrant flower. It grows from a bulb and blooms in early Spring in the southeast United States. Amaryllis is the only genus in the subtribe Amaryllidinae (tribe Amaryllideae). It is a small genus of flowering bulbs. Amaryllis is a bulbous plant.
Each bulb produces one or two leafless stems 30 to 60 cm tall, each of which bears a cluster of two to twelve funnel-shaped flowers at their tops. It has wide blade-like greenery with the stems coming from the blades upon which sits the beautiful flower. (Info from Wickipedia)
I have applied art filters to this photo to achieve the background effect.
