Lion Cub in Black and White
This is an older cub. And it's growing because it's eating well. I had his attention because of my long white Canon 100-400mm lens hanging out over the side of the Land Cruiser - just about at eye level. He was very interested - -.
We were told the pride had made a kill the night before, but I didn't notice until it was on the computer that this sweet thang had blood on his nose from dinner . Ick, but that's nature, friends.- - -.
The lion (Panthera leo) is in the genus Panthera and the family Felidae. Some males exceed 550 pounds, making it the second-largest cat after the tiger. (Info from Wikipedia)
I took this photo in the Kalahari area of Botswana.
