Wild Dog of Botswana
The wild dog of Africa (Lycaon pictus) has a fascinating pack life. There is a dominant male and a dominant female. There is only one adult male in the pack, but several females. However, only the dominant female is allowed to mate and have pups. All the females assist in the rearing and feeding of the pups. It runs by several names: African wild dog, African hunting dog, or African painted dog.
They're magnificent to watch as they play and practice fight and interact. And during this Golden Hour of Botswana, their golden fur glows!
