A Lion Headshot
This lion had been beaten out of the pride by a new male the night before. He had several injuries on his face, one to his foot, causing him to limp. He will now have to find a new pride and win the fight for leader or hunt on his own, which is a definite disadvantage for bringing down prey, in addition to his injured foot. There can usually be only one adult male in a pride.
The lion (Panthera leo) is in the genus Panthera and the family Felidae. Some males exceed 550 pounds, making it the second-largest cat after the tiger. (Info from Wikipedia)
