African Animals
Majesty
This magnificent guy, the head of the pride, was keeping an eye on a potential meal. The females had chased down a huge male Cape buffalo and were apparently waiting it out. We couldn’t see the buffalo because they’d trapped it in a shallow ravine. We figured the buffalo was a goner. After about 20 minutes, it came bursting out of the ravine and took off in a Hail Mary! Buffalo 1, lions 0.
I’ve seen a good many lions in Africa. I’ve never seen one with such a huge, lush mane. Wow.
