The Pelican and the Shark
This hapless pelican is so busy begging for food from fishermen in the harbor that he doesn't notice the shark swimming directly below.
Pelicans are a genus of large water birds that makes up the family Pelecanidae. They are characterised by a long beak and a large throat pouch used for catching prey and draining water from the scooped up contents before swallowing. The brown pelican shown here (Pelecanus occidentalis) is a North American bird of the pelican family, Pelecanidae. It’s pretty common since it’s found on the Atlantic coast from Nova Scotia to the mouth of the Amazon River. (Info from Wikipedia)
