Crape or Crepe Myrtle
The crape myrtle will always remind me of the southern United States where the trees grow in profusion with huge blossoms of a variety of colors. This bloom is about 7 inches long and 5 inches wide. Truly amazing.
Crape or crepe myrtle, genus Lagerstroemia, has about 50 species within it. It mainly grows in warmer climates around the world. It is a member of the family Lythraceae also known as the loosestrife family. (Info from Wikipedia)
