I always associate azaleas with the United States southern areas. Masses of them bloom every spring, both cultivated and wild, and in all colors imaginable.
Azaleas are flowering shrubs in the genus Rhododendron. Azaleas bloom in spring, their flowers often lasting several weeks. Shade tolerant, they prefer living near or under trees. This delicate-looking but oh-so-hearty azalea doesn't know or care that winter is fast approaching. (Info from Wikipedia)
