The Cardinal and the Finch
The juvenile cardinal is happily singing while a finch approaches. I think she doesn't know.....or doesn't care. She just struck me as a smiling little juvenile who's finding delight in her new world.
Cardinals, in the family Cardinalidae, are passerine birds found in North and South America. They are robust, seed-eating birds with strong bills. The family ranges in size from the 4.7- nches, 40 ounces and up. (Info from Wikipedia)
Also called the redbird, they are prevalent throughout the United States. The male is a bright red, the female just as beautiful but more dun-colored to more camouflage in the nest.
Art filters have been added in post-processing to achieve the effect seen in this photograph.
